NAME Warsash Local History Society
 
AIMS/OBJECTIVES
  •  To encourage interest in the history of Hook/Warsash
  •  To encourage research into the history of Warsash
  •  To form a permanent archive to preserve a record of Warsash to be updated and handed on to future generations
  •  To provide a social gathering of people interested in their local history
MEMBERSHIP A person shall become a member upon completion of the Membership Form, payment of the joining fee and annual subscription. New members should be given a copy of the Constitution and agree to abide by it.
 
SUBSCRIPTIONS The annual subscription shall be £10 per person, or £15 for two people living at the same address. There shall also be an initial payment of £5 per person. The subscription and initial payment shall not be refundable. The date due for subscriptions shall be 01 January annually, and membership will lapse if payment is not made within two months of this date.
 
VISITORS Visitors shall be required to sign the visitors' book and pay an entrance fee.
 
COMMITTEE Day to day running shall be by a Committee consisting of a Chairman Secretary and Treasurer, plus five elected members of the Society. Up to two other persons may be co-opted to serve at the discretion of the Committee. The Committee may set up "groups" to participate in particular research projects. Nominations for Committee Members and Officers should be sent to the Secretary in writing at least five days before the AGM.
 
ARCHIVIST An Archivist shall be appointed to keep historical records, etc. The Archivist will be a member of the the Committee.
 
RULES The Committee may make such rules as they see fit to facilitate the aims/objectives of the Society.
 
MEETINGS The Society shall meet up to six times each year.
 
AGM An Annual General Meeting shall be held each autumn at which a report shall be given of the Society's work for the year. At this meeting Officers and other Committee members shall be elected. Any proposed changes in the Constitution should be submitted to the Secretary in writing at least two weeks before the AGM.
 
ACCOUNTS Accounts shall be prepared by the Treasurer and audited annually by an independent auditor prior to their presentation to members.
 
INTERPRETATION The decision of the Committee on any matter affecting the Society shall be final.
